Case Study
Ridge House
Sonoma, California · MMXXIV
A private suite above the vineyard, wrapped floor to ceiling in the finest arrowroot Phillip Jeffries produces — matched seam to seam so the fibre reads as a single surface.
The Room
A note on how it came together.
Natural fibre wallcoverings are unforgiving. Each roll is subtly different in tone, texture and weave — the discipline is in the sequencing, not the hanging.
We received twenty-two rolls, unrolled every one, and sequenced them across the four walls before a single drop went up. The lightest rolls run to the window; the deepest sit behind the bed.
The ceiling continues the same material, seams parallel to the wall behind the headboard. On a cloudless afternoon the whole room glows a warm oat colour, as if lit from within the walls themselves.
