Schumacher
New York · Est. 1889
American heritage house — 135 years of printed pattern, damask, and archival print.
The House
Schumacher has printed pattern for American interiors for over a century. Its archive — collaborations with Miles Redd, Veere Grenney, Vera Neumann, Timothy Corrigan and more — reads as a history of American decoration.
Founded in 1889 by Frederic Schumacher, the house is the oldest privately-held textile and wallcovering firm in America. The archive holds tens of thousands of designs, many still in production a hundred years after their release.
Their strength is the collaboration list. Miles Redd's high-contrast florals, Veere Grenney's English restraint, Vera Neumann's mid-century florals — Schumacher functions as a publishing house for the leading American decorators.
For us, the appeal is the archive's breadth. In a single Schumacher order we can specify a Sanderson-heritage botanical for the powder room and a graphic Neumann print for the mudroom — from one supplier, on one lead time.
